Personal Profile

I am a forward thinking and highly motivated individual who prides himself on being respected by colleagues, clients and friends.  I have excellent analytical and problem solving skills and I am confident dealing with any situation, this allows me to present a reasoned and professional approach to tasks.

I am confident when working as an individual or in a team and have excellent communication skills.  Expanding my knowledge and achieving goals I set myself gives me great satisfaction and this means that I always strive to perform to a very high level.

In my spare time I enjoy playing and watching sport, reading and listening to music.  I am an avid computer user and enjoy helping family and friends with any problems they have and I also play several online games when time allows.  I also enjoy reading about history and culture and when able love to visit different places and get exposure to new things.  I hold a current clean driving license.

IT Skills and Knowledge

I am currently studying towards MCITP: Enterprise Administrator.  Having completed various Microsoft certifications I am now looking at really testing myself by completing MCITP: EA which I hope to have completed by June 2012.

I have excellent Windows XP /Vista/7 troubleshooting skills having used them both at work and at home and I am currently working in a helpdesk environment troubleshooting these Operating Systems along with the Microsoft Office package and many in-house bespoke applications.  I am also confident using remote assistance tools to help identify and troubleshoot problems communicated by telephone and voicemail.  I am confident with using/supporting Microsoft Server technology having built up a well rounded experience of these system(s) whilst employed at Branston Ltd and to a lesser degree at Mouchel.

Organisation and Professionalism Skills

In my previous role at TBSL it was my duty to visit varying sites across the country ranging from domestic to business premises, to do this I would have to manage my own work often over large geographical areas and under tight time constraints, this meant I had to arrange and attend appointments to provide cost effective and efficient journeys between wide geographical locations.

Site visits required me to arrive on site in a prompt and professional manager to quickly carry out my work with minimal fuss caused to the client before moving on to my next appointment.

Work History


Mouchel Business Services

Senior Support Engineer [December 2008 – Present] – Staying within the same team but now supporting the Lincolnshire Schools Network (LSN) and the Lincolnshire County Council network (2 of the biggest networks in Lincolnshire.)  My technical ability was recognised when I was promoted to Senior Engineer.  My extra duties included, becoming an escalation point for urgent/sensitive issues, identify areas in which the team was not performing well and provide training/workshops in that area.  Mentoring staff who are pursuing Microsoft certification and representing the team at meetings.  During my employment at Mouchel I was offered a place on the Out of Hours team which provides OoH support to Councillors and Social Services users.

Support Engineer  [January 2008 – December 2008] – Working within a large team of 25 support personnel, my main duties was to provide 2nd line support to the Lincolnshire County Council IT network.  Support was provided via telephone and remote control.  I quickly earned the respect of the support team though my technical ability and was therefore seen as the “goto” person when support staff ran into technical issues.  During this time I was also asked to provide face-to-face support to VIP users (Councillors, Head of Service etc…)

Branston Ltd (August 2005 – January 2008)

Desktop/Server Support Engineer – Working within a medium enterprise company within the fresh produce sector, providing support to over 600 users over a multi-site environment (Windows XP/Server 2003/2000, Exchange 2003, Citrix & SCO OpenServer UNIX.)  Main duties included supporting the company’s LAN/WAN infrastructure, providing 1st/2nd line desktop support to the user base, following calls end-to-end until resolved. Proactive monitoring of servers, taking remedial actions to resolve issues for example identify and replace failed disks in arrays.  Management of the company’s desktop life cycle policy.  Being the “face” of the small IT department part of my role involved attending the remote sites (located in Scotland & Somerset) to provide an onsite IT presence for the users. Administration of the company’s Avaya INDeX PBX systems and replacement or repair of hardware (both server and desktop.)  Whist at Branston I successfully implemented a Clearswift Websweeper Proxy solution to provide content filtering on the company’s internet access, I also successfully implemented a Microsoft SharePoint Portal Server 2003 pilot.  Whilst at Branston I was appointed onto the audit committee, the main purpose of the committee was to ensure that Branston obtained and retained its ISO 14001 (Environmental Management System) accreditation.



Todds Business Systems Ltd (TBSL) (April 2004 – August 2005)


Junior Support Engineer  – Working with a small team of 6 engineers my main duties included providing 1st line support via telephone/remote control and attending site when necessary to businesses across theUK.  Management of new installations – liaising with both the client and the engineering team ensuring that the client is kept up to date with the status of installation and ensuring the build is kept to the client specifications at all times.  I was also the technical lead for the accountancy package – Multisoft (UNIX based)
